Bales began the season with a record of 72-30 in the last two seasons, with his 22-4 (9-0 in the Mid Eastern Conference) mark being his best yet. We’ve got some retraining to do, and certainly (a the sectional titles) is where we’d like to be.”
While four consecutive titles in the sectional championship could break the school’s record but it’s clear that the Vikings still have some way to go towards being a definitive postseason contender.
“I don’t know as there is still room for growth. I’m hoping we’ll become a team that’s capable of doing this. I don’t think that we’re there yet,” Bales said of the team’s chances of winning having a sectional title. “We’ve been learning how protect better … be careful not to make mistakes that don’t have to be forced. Therefore, we’ve got some learning to do. Certainly (a the sectional titles) is where we’d like to be.”
The Vikings will ultimately reach as far as Madden takes them. She was a 1,000-point scorer and averaged around a 16-point double-double in the past two years, and is likely to soon exceed 1,000 career rebound.
Madden has been the key component in the Blue River’s return to prominence in the postseason and Blue River’s win on Tuesday night’s win by 77-63 over Wapahani (4-2) showcased the importance of her contribution.
